Great afternoon out in the beautiful city of Melbourne Bridgette was very fun and full of information. Friendly and we had a great afternoon exploring the city.
One of my favourite things to do is explore the city, even better with a friendly guide.

Great tour, fantastic guide We did this on our first day in Melbourne and it was a great way to get a sense of the central city, the history.. and have a cheeky drink or two on the way.
Our guide was awesome, her knowledge far wider than the history of Melbourne. She pointed us to the best place to buy F1 supporter gear and confirmed some good restaurant options as well!

Informative with a dash of humour, and a pint of beer. This tour was fantastic. Lenny had so many stories, delivered in an informative and interesting way, with a dash of humour. It really opened Melbourne up for me. The pub stops really brought the group together.I would definitely recommend.

Helps form a rolodex of convo starters and sweet meeting spots. Love getting the quirks and features of things and now I know some of Melbourne's! Great hearing things from someone at PhD level interest in history.

Great fun! The bars we went to were great and the drinks we sampled were excellent. Lenny was a fantastic guide: personable, knowledgeable and fun. We did the tour on an extremely hot day, but that did not impact the fun that we had.

Fantastic afternoon I had a lot of fun on this tour and our guide Brigette was great. Funny weird occasionally creepy stories and a great take on the history of Melbourne. The bars we visited were very cool. I would not have found them on my own.

Great time! Alda was a great guide and we had a fantastic time! We ended up going to the old jail later in the week based on the stories we heard. The jail was very interesting.

terrible Guide needed to be more experienced and presentable. Tour content very limited and boring. Explanation of time at bars etc needed to have been told before the tour set out.

Spooky tales and yummy cocktails Had so much fun and shout out to our tour guide Brigette! Was a little nervous to join on my own but ended up being the best night!

Brigette is a true historian and shared her passion and humour with us. Great historical information with an appropriate amount of macabre content to live up to the title. Bars were spread out over the downtown core and interesting with a nice selection of beer, wine, yummy cocktails and assorted non-alcoholic drinks as well. Would definitely do another tour with Brigette if I come back. Thank you!

Hidden bars and laneway legends My 22yo daughter took some convincing to do this tour with me but absolutely loved learning the drinking history of Melbourne and discovering some hidden gems we will be sure to return to again. Our guide Michael was very knowledgeable, approachable and ensured our tour was relaxed and fun. We were lucky to have been able to join a great group. Highly recommend!

The morbid content that isn’t seen at surface level Good stuff if you’re looking to get more of the morbid details of Melbourne. You get to see some pretty cool bars too. I reckon if you’re new to the city, this tour is a good introductory to learn about some darker history.

Our best night in Melbourne We had a fantastic time visiting bars we’d never been to and now look forward to returning to. Tom was a friendly, funny and very entertaining guide. He was keen to share his recommendations of other bars to visit and places to eat. We met a lovely group of people, most of us continued on and found a couple of bars Tom suggested.

Talk, Drink, Learn! Alda was delightful and well versed in the history of Melbourne! The tour was filled with fun facts and good humour with the other people in the group. We had such a good time that we stayed at the last bar for an extra 45 minutes or so! 10/10 would recommend!

A fun way to discover interesting places around Melbourne We had a great afternoon recently when we did the Hidden Bars and Creepy Tales walking tour. Graciela was a fun and knowledgeable guide who took us to some interesting landmarks, bars and other places of historical significance around the city. We had a fun time which was made even better with several awesome refreshment stops along the way. I would highly recommend this tour for people who enjoy walking, good company and discovering new places with a story behind them.

Super fun & informative! A super fun & informative trip! Tom was so knowledgeable and so much fun. My friend who lives in Melbourne was like “wow I actually learned a lot of new stuff!” Highly recommend.

Hidden Bars & Laneways great fun for solo travellers Had a great tour of Hidden Bars & Laneways. As a solo traveller from Canada, this was a great way to discover places I would probably not find on my own. Tom was a great tour guide, providing an historical context to the bar, coffee, food and art culture of Melbourne today. The visit/drinks at 2 bars was a fun opportunity to meet/chat with both locals and visitors. I would definitely recommend Drinking History Tours to fellow travellers.

Great tour of Melbourne sights! Great tour, some places I’d never been before even though I live in Melbourne. The tour operator Tom was great, had a good engagement with each of the people on the tour. Would definitely recommend.

Cocktails and Exceptional Bars We experienced the Secret Bars and Laneway Legends tour and it was fantastic. Our tour guide Michael was very knowledgeable and managed our time without rush. Great cocktails. Highly recommend!

Awesome tour Awesome tour ! Our guide Tom was super nice and very friendly. He knows some much stuff about Melbourne ! The hidden bars are the best thing about this tour because the drinks delicious.

Tale by Tale, Pint by Pint We were lucky to be hosted by the Big Bossman Ben as he brought us on a walk down CBD across a few landmarks, such as QV market down south to Flinders. Tale by Tale, Pint by Pint we were delightfully entertained with stories of creepy/scary/ghostly history bits of Melbourne City which you wouldn't come across even if you walked every single pavement of the CBD. Thanks for the introduction to the laneway bar scene as well!

A fun tour of Melbourne’s laneways and bars. A great 3 hour tour of Melbourne bars and history. Three excellent bars - hidden bar, rooftop bar and gin distillery. Tom was an engaging, informative and entertaining guide.

Worth every cent We did the Hidden Bars & Creepy Tales tour on the weekend and had the best time. We learned so much interesting, grisly and spooky history walking through the streets of our state’s capital, thanks to our fantastic, knowledgeable and fun guide Lenny. The three bars we visited were very funky and made THE coolest looking cocktails. Definitely considering a return to Melbourne soon for another tour from your offerings. Thanks for a fun afternoon.

Laughs and Drinks in Melbourne Excellent history and drinking tour of Melbourne. Have lived in Melbourne most of my life and still learnt so much and saw parts Ive never noticed before. Brilliant guided tour with Alda who made sure we all had a great time exploring the hidden laneways full of creepy stories. We also stayed hydrated in some great bars along the way. Bravo Alda!! Highly recommended..

Drinking and history tours of old Melbourne town The tour started around 3.30 pm after some very ordinary Victorian weather.
We meet Alda outside the Transport bar and we all introduce ourselves to each other.
It was a cool breeze blowing so Alda wasn’t no time starting our Drinking and History tour.
The cocktails hit mark every time and the venues were amazing, the History and knowledge that Alda showed was brilliant and we will be back to do this again.
Highly recommend.

Bars of Melbourne A fantastic opportunity to combine learning some history of Melbourne, some really creepy tales and some amazing bars with a lovely group of local tourists

History with drinks Our tour guide had heaps of information and each bar was unique. A great way to access bits about Melbourne. Thanks Alba, we had a great afternoon.

It was ok, but we would have preferred Historical bars over their hidden bars selection.. The guide was good, the creepy tales were interesting & the historical tour stops were appropriate but the hidden bars were disappointing. Bar #1 - Workshop: average (at least we had a decent place to sit & get to know other tour-goers). Bar #2 - Ferdydurke: the worst (they crammed us in the back of the bar & obviously weren't prepared to seat a large group. I don't know why this bar was chosen for the tour as it wasn't a big enough place, when already full of the usual patrons. Also the music was garbage & too loud to actually chat, so we all sat awkwardly drinking our drinks until it was time to leave). Bar #3 - Jack & Bones: average (decent food & drinks + available seating, but the guide bailed soon after arriving due to needing to catch a late tram home, so the tour felt like it fell flat at the end). Honestly, due to the historical nature of the rest of the tour, we would have preferred to attend historical bars instead (E.g., Oxford Scholar + Young & Jackson).

Informative, entertaining experience. Our tour guide, Alda, was very nice & knowledgeable about Melbourne, took us to 3 bars, Alda had lots of stories to tell us at different locations, we also loved meeting others in the tour group,

Whiskey and Gin History tour I was on this tour with a friend for his birthday present. The tour guide was very informative and had lots of information about the history of Melbourne distilleries. We went to 3 bars and although everyone on the tour were whiskey lovers we had more Gin than Whiskey. I was a bit disappointed as we thought we were getting a whiskey tour. If you like Gin this is definatley the tour for you.

Not as expected Guide very nice but tales not very creepy or interesting and took too long to get the actual reason for the story. Would have been nice to have more than a “quick drink” in each bar. First bar nice and quirky 2nd bar terrible and 3rd bar excellent.

A great day out, despite Melbourne weather! So much fun! Tim did a great job of managing a walking tour on a very rain Melbourne day, the information and stories were great, even know we live in Melbourne we learned a lot!

Do not recommend Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this experience at all or have a good time :-(. It was informative yes. But boring and not spooky at all. Bored by the second bar we went to. just stopped drinking because I had lost my excitement for this tour. As well as three people had left before the third bar due to being bored and I felt like doing the same long before then tour ended. I’m sorry but I won’t do this tour again.

Interesting but not scary Our guide Alfa was very knowledgeable and the stories she told were interesting but I had expected a more ghostly and slightly scary experience. The bars were fun especially the last one with a hidden door. But overall the description did not match what I expected.
